Expo Tales _ Commissionato da Regione Lombardia
Sulla base di uno degli obiettivi di lavoro della Carta di Milano, nasce l’idea di questo progetto fotografico rivolto al concetto di cittadinanza glocale. Otto Bitjoka, imprenditore di nazionalità camerunense, è stato coordinatore del tavolo “Un incrocio di culture: le comunità straniere a Expo 2015” punta al concetto d’immigrazione nel contesto della mobilità globale.
“In Expo Milano 2015 i cittadini del mondo diventano protagonisti – dichiara Otto Bitjoka – come elementi dinamici, che permettono di unire i Paesi Partecipanti e le loro comunità presenti in Italia”. E’ sempre più necessario sviluppare un’economia basata sul dialogo tra diverse identità locali per incentivare la crescita e lo sviluppo a livello globale. Sono proprio i cittadini del mondo i protagonisti di questo progetto fotografico, con i loro abiti tradizionali che distinguono popoli e culture di tutto il mondo. Gli abiti tradizionali raccontano la storia tramandata di ciascun popolo, sono strumenti d’informazione sulle persone che li indossano. Hanno quindi un importante significato sociale e raccontano di credenze spirituali ed etniche, politica e religione. Sono una ricchezza culturale inestimabile. L’abito tradizionale, diventa dunque icona di una nuova concezione della mobilità delle persone che oggi più che mai si spostano nel mondo che sembra diventare sempre più piccolo.
Expo Tales “6 photographers for 6 months of Milan Expo 2015”

The goal is to tell the story of Lombardy throgh the six months of the Milan expo 2015. This is done from the perspective of the six photographers and artist who, using their lenses and their own awareness, were able to capture, each for one of the six months of the Expo, faces, places, seasons and architectural highlights. In a world, they photographerd the spirit that brought the Universal Exposition to life. This wonderful book, with its clear goal, was somenthing the regional government specifically desired and created so that images, filled with beauty and suggestion, could explain what Expo meant to our land and, especially, what our land gave to Expo: food, flavours, aromas, culture, beauty, design, meetings, projects, commitment, solidariety, ideas and hope.
Humankind and nature are placed together harmoniously in an intense explosionof colour as the photographer explores, very personally, the question of biodiversity. Expo Milan 2015, become the ideal set to reproduce the delicate balance that links the earth to the people who live on it. The incredible variety of species and envoironments is reflected in the face and in the colours of the traditional outfits, creating a series of differences that even include the observer’s gaze. This is the perfect conclusion to a tale in photos that looks confidently to the future.
